About Our Wood
Experts in Northwest Hardwood
Our plant is located in the forests of coastal Oregon, which gives us local access to a wide variety of native Northwest hardwoods. We not only use these species in the wooden parts we make, but we sell what we don't use in the form of milled, low-moisture content boards, strips and blocks. Our familiarity with these species enables us to work with and advise you on the wood that will best meet your needs, and the needs of your customers.
Hardwood comparison
Red Alder Red Alder is a versatile, dimensionally stable hardwood, ideal for turning and shaping, and able to blend with walnut, mahogany or cherry when stained.
Pacific Coast Maple Pacific Coast Maple (also
known as Bigleaf Maple) is slightly softer than hard maple, making it more dimensionally stable and easier to machine - yet still extremely durable. Finishes very well.
Eastern Maple Eastern Maple (also called Rock
Maple) is slightly harder than Pacific Coast Maple. It is a hard close
grained wood that is extremely durable. It is ideally suited for furniture
and cabinet work.
Cherry Cherry is a fine-grained hardwood
characterized by a light reddish coloring which changes with time and
exposure to light. Used extensively for furniture manufacturing and kitchen
cabinetry.
